Illegal structures razed in Karnal

The Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (HSIIDC) razed more than 10 illegal structures in Sector 3 of the industrial area on Monday. Anil Kumar, JE, said the HSIIDC had planned to extend Sector 3 for which 62 acres were acquired.

He said the land was encroached upon after the acquisition and illegal construction had begun on more than two acres. The drive was started after a plea in this regard was rejected by the high court in November.

Naib Tehsildar Rajbaksh Arora and senior manager of HSIIDC Rajbir Singh were present on the spot during the demolition drive. Meanwhile, residents alleged the demolition drive was undertaken despite having the registries.

Sohan Singh, a dhaba owner, said his dhaba was demolished despite possessing documents pertaining to registration of land, adding he had been living there for past two years.
