Youth booked for father’s murder

PANIPAT:A youth reportedly murdered his 70-year-old father in Vikas Nagar in Tehsil camp area of the city late on Monday night.

A youth reportedly murdered his 70-year-old father in Vikas Nagar in Tehsil camp area of the city late on Monday night.

The deceased was identified as Arjun Dev of Vikas Nagar. He was working as a street hawker.

Bharat Bhushan, son-in-law of the deceased, in his statement to the police alleged that his brother-in-law Kamal was an addict and was jobless. He had differences with his father on the issue of ownership of a house in Vikas Nagar, where he lived with his elderly parents.

Kamal had quarreled with his father on Monday night on the same issue. In a fit of rage, he assaulted Arjun with a heavy object on his head, due to which the deceased died on the spot. Inspector Vikrant, SHO, City, said a case had been registered against Kamal and the motive behind the murder was family feud.
