Restraining order in clerks’ appointment

CHANDIGARH: Acting on a petition alleging that only five, instead of 13, candidates of the general category were being appointed clerks in the Directorate Education Department, the HC has issued restrain orders.

Chandigarh, January 17

Acting on a petition alleging that only five, instead of 13, candidates of the general category were being appointed clerks in the Directorate Education Department, the HC has issued restrain orders.

Issuing a notice of motion for January 24, Justice Ritu Bahri asserted Haryana and other respondents, in the meantime, “are restrained from making appointment against the general category from the candidates having marks lower than the general category candidate, that is 173”.

The directions came on a petition filed against Haryana and other respondents by Santosh Devi and others through counsel Mazlish Khan. Their grievance was that after recommending 742 candidates to the Directorate Education Department, 45 candidates did not join as per the recommendation list dated March 17, 2018.

Of the 45 posts, 13 were meant for the general category. The petitioners were in the waiting list and had secured 173 marks. Against 13 posts of the general category, candidates of other categories could not be appointed, Khan submitted . — TNS
