Shimla, July 27

Four accused in the Kotkhai minor rape and murder case, Rajender Singh alias Raju (32), pick-up driver; Subash Singh Bisht (42), Deepak alias Deepu (29) and Lok Jung alias Chhotu (19), were produced before a local court in Theog and sent to 14 days of judicial custody today.

The police had arrested six persons. One accused Suraj was allegedly killed by Raju in the police lock-up while the sixth accused in the case, Ashish Chauhan alias Ashu (29), was sent to judicial custody yesterday.

Sources said the CBI had questioned the five accused and their call records were also scanned. Reportedly, a team of the CBI also visited the Kotkhai police station where Suraj was killed.

The CBI team visited the State Forensic Laboratory at Junga for the second day today and interacted with forensic experts regarding the examination of samples sent by the police.

The police had sent the DNA, biological and viscera samples to the SFL for examination and as the public had raised doubts on the police theory whether the crime was committed on the spot from where the body was recovered, the forensic report is significant.

A state forensic team is expected to inspect the spot again for corroborating the evidence provided by the police through scientific methods. However, a Central forensic team visited the spot of crime on July 25.
