HP Congress committee dissolved but chief stays

New Delhi, November 20

Congress president Sonia Gandhi today dissolved the Himachal Congress Committee but allowed state unit president Kuldip Rathore to stay.

In a statement, AICC general secretary KC Venugopal said the party president had dissolved all office-bearers and executive committees of the Himachal unit along with district and block committees.

The move paves the way for state’s organisational revamp amid indications that Sonia may similarly revamp other state units with an eye on preparedness for the next election cycle.The Tribune has learnt that the reconstitution of Himachal Congress organisation committees was long overdue with the majority of office-bearers across state, district and block committees in place for around 10 years. Moribund organisation was one reason the party identified as a challenge area after it lost the state polls and later all four LS seats. — TNS
