Man killed in road mishap in Kullu village

KULLU: One person was killed and four others injured when a jeep fell down into a gorge near Kamand in the Lug valley area of the district on Wednesday.

One person was killed and four others injured when a jeep fell down into a gorge near Kamand in the Lug valley area of the district on Wednesday.

The police said the vehicle was coming towards Kullu, when suddenly the brakes failed and the vehicle fell into a gorge. Residents rushed to the spot and rescued the victims. The injured were ferried in 108 Ambulance to the Kullu hospital for treatment.

The police said Mangal Chand of Ghaliyana village died on the spot while Chuni Lal, Gulabi Devi, Duni Chand and Lal Chand were undergoing treatment at the Kullu hospital. Kullu DSP Ashish Sharma said the body of the deceased would be handed over to relatives after the postmortem examination. He said a case had been registered and further investigation was going on. — OC
