The 773-metre-long bridge over the Swan river, which will connect the Una and Haroli Assembly segments at Rampur and Haroli villages, respectively, will be completed by the end of this financial year and handed over to the public. PWD Executive Engineer RS Chandel said the work on the bridge was going on at a brisk pace, adding that it would be the longest bridge in the state.

The bridge will shorten the distance between the Haroli sub-divisional headquarters and Una district headquarters by about 10 km. According to departmental sources, 14 out of the total 19 spans have been completed, while two spans will be completed by January. The remaining three will be completed by March 2018.

“A sum of Rs 56.22 crore is being spent on the construction of the bridge, which had received government approval two years ago. Work on filling earth on the approach roads to the bridge, measuring 1.5 km on both sides, is also under way,” said Chandel.
