The Jamaat-e-Islami, J&K, has given its support to the “public movement” for the protection of Article 35A.

“The Jamaat extends full support to the public movement started for the protection of Article 35A which stands challenged in the Supreme Court by some disgruntled communalist elements with the tacit backing of the Hindutva brigade whose main objective is to change the demography of J&K in order to fulfil its nefarious designs,” Jamaat-e-Islami chief spokesperson Zahid Ali said in a statement.

The statement said “Article 35A was incorporated into the Constitution to ensure the protection of various fundamental rights of the people of J&K, in particular its demography, till the people decide their political future”.
