Youth Congress activists today held a protest under a nationwide programme, ‘Hisaab Do Jawab Do’, to protest against the ‘failure’ of the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre in fulfilling the promises made with people during the 2014 Lok Sabha election.

The protest was held under the leadership of Dr Uma Shanker Pandey and Pradesh Youth Congress president Pranav Shagotra.

Raising slogans against the Central government for ‘betraying’ the nation, activists of the Youth Congress started their protest from Shaheedi Chowk party office which passed through several markets and localities.

As the activists marched near the BJP office at Kacchi Chawni, they were stopped by the police from moving further after some scuffle.

Addressing the activists, Pranav Shagotra said the NDA government headed by the BJP was shamelessly taking credit for projects which were started during the UPA regime. “The only noticeable achievement of the BJP-led government is the inauguration of the projects which were conceptualised and started during the UPA regime,” he said and pointed out that work on the bridge which Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated today, was started during the UPA regime.

Challenging the BJP to come up with any project which was started and completed during the past three years, Shagotra said some projects which were started during the Congress regime for Jammu region were abandoned due to the failure of the BJP leadership in the state.

Pandey said the three-year tenure of the BJP was an era of unfulfilled promises because except for giving lip service, it had done nothing for the people. He said the people of the country were anxiously waiting for a bullet train, Rs 15 lakh in their accounts, 5 crore jobs, smart cities, etc.
