Srinagar, August 19

A makeshift “media centre” set up at a hotel in the Sonwar area of the summer capital has come to the rescue of journalists of the Kashmir valley where the Internet service continued to remain snapped for the 15th straight day.

The centre, set up by the Information Department at Sarovar Portico Hotel near the revered shrine of Syed Yaqoob Sahib, presently has four computers with Internet facility. Mediapersons can be seen queuing near the four computers throughout the course of the day. A notice board close to the computers reads “Press Conference at 6 pm”.
