Noted poet Saifi Sopori passes away

Governor NN Vohra and Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti have expressed grief over the demise of noted poet and educationist Saifi Sopori.
Peer Saifuddin Sopori, popularly known as Saifi Sopori (95) died in Sopore town of Baramulla district in North Kashmir last evening. The Governor prayed for peace to the departed soul and wished bereaved family the strength to bear the sad loss.
In her condolence message, the Chief Minister described the poet as one of the great educational administrators of his times who contributed a lot in laying the edifice of educational system in the Valley, particularly in north Kashmir. She said with his unmatched command over Urdu, Persian and Arabic languages, Saifi Sopori enriched the literature by a great measure.
Mehbooba has prayed for eternal solace to the departed soul and conveyed her sympathies to the bereaved family.
