In the ongoing inter-school Educational Contests being organised by the Education Department, Mehak Bains, a Class VII student of Government Senior Secondary School, Nehru Garden, has won the first prize in singing.
The event was dedicated to the 550th Parkash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev. Mehak sang the song, “Baba majiyan charonda disda ae, Paani kheta nu launda disda ae”, based on the life of the Guru.
The song has been originally sung by Daljit Dosanjh, said her mother Rita Bains.
The contest had participants from schools from Kartarpur, Lamma Pind, Goraya and other areas. Mehak won the award and will now participate in the zonal contest.
