Gold jewellery, Rs 1.30 lakh stolen

Phagwara: The house of a trader, Jeet Dass, was reportedly burgled in the Dev Nagar locality here on Tuesday. Miscreants entered the house after breaking the locks and decamped with Rs 1.30 lakh in cash, one laptop, one camera and a few gold ornaments. The family was away from home to attend a marriage. The exact loss could not be estimated. The police have registered a case under Sections 457 and 380 of the IPC. OC

One killed in road mishap

Phagwara: A truck driver, identified as Ravinder Singh of Nangal village in Gurdaspur district, was killed on the spot when his vehicle collided with a four-wheeler on the Phagwara-Hoshiarpur road, near Panchhat village, on Tuesday. The police have registered a case against the driver of the four-wheeler and impounded his vehicle. The body has been sent to the local Civil Hospital autopsy. OC
