Ahead of the anniversary of the Operation Bluestar (Ghalughara), paramilitary forces have been deployed in the city to maintain law and order. One company of the ITBP has been deployed in the city from today.
Confirming this, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Headquarters, Amneet Kondal, said paramilitary forces were deployed as the anniversary of Operation Bluestar was being observed in the city, adding that the purpose of the deployment was to keep the law and order situation in the city under control.
“We have been provided one company of the ITBP by the government that consists of 80 jawans. After surveying the sensitive points and areas in the city, these jawans have been deployed there. Forces will remain in the city for one week. Apart from forces, our Jalandhar Commissionerate’s force will remain on the alert mode with special nakas at the strategic places,” Kondal said.
Sources said cops in civvies would also be deployed at various points in the city to keep a tab on anti-social elements.
On the anniversary of Operation Bluestar, various Sikh organisations may carry out a march in the city.
