Study group of NDC visits city

JALANDHAR: A study group of 58th National Defence College (NDC), comprising senior officers from the Civil Services and Armed Forces, today held detailed deliberations with the officers of the district administration regarding the social, political and economic scenario of the state in general, and district in particular.

A study group of 58th National Defence College (NDC), comprising senior officers from the Civil Services and Armed Forces, today held detailed deliberations with the officers of the district administration regarding the social, political and economic scenario of the state in general, and district in particular.

The group, led by faculty-in-charge and officer of the Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Anwar Haleem, had detailed deliberations with Varinder Kumar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner, Commissioner of Police, Praveen Kumar Sinha, and the Senior Superintendent of Police, Gurpreet Singh Bhullar.

They dwelt on other topics, including—industrial growth, agrarian problem, potential of tourism sector, immediate threats, if any, to the security of the state and country, besides the influence of Sikhism— on the state.

The group was of the view that the state had a potential of being developed as the hub of tourism, which could boost the economy of the state on one hand, besides opening new vistas of employment for the youth on the other.

Likewise, the group also enquired about the efforts being made by the district administration to improve the key sectors of health and education in the rural areas. They also had a detailed discussion about the influence exerted by the religious deras.

They members of the group said Punjab, being the ‘sword arm’ and ‘food bowl’ of the country had a lot of significance in the country, due to which the study group, which comprises senior officers of Civil Services, Indian Armed Forces, besides foreign dignitaries, aspired to have a detailed knowledge about the state.

On the occasion Tour Coordinator of the group, Manish Kishore Sinha, S Kumar AFHQ-CS, Brigadier SS Dahiya, Colonel Hameed Abdullah Ahmed Al Balushi Royal Army of Oman, Brigadier Bhavnish Kumar, Colonel Andrew Charles Fox New Zealand Army, Brigadier Rajan Sharawat, Commodore DK Goswami, Brigadier Ephraim Mugume, Brigadier Anoop Singhal SM, Brigadier Ranjeet Singh, Air Commodore A Sharma VM, Colonel Pema Dorji Royal Bhutan Army, Brigadier Rajiv Ghai, Brigadier Sunit Mehrotra, Brigadier HP Ranasinghe RWP RSP Sri Lankan Army and others visited the city.also present on the occasion.
