Ludhiana, December 9

In Punjab, jaggery is produced during the months of October to March each year. In majority cases, migrant labourers manufacture using unhygienic ways.

Punjab Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (PAMETI) organised a training programme for project directors and deputy project directors of Punjab for hygienic production and improved marketing practices of jaggery.

Mahesh Kumar, head, Department of Processing and Food Engineering, discussed the improved and hygienic production techniques for jaggery production.

Khushdeep Dharni laid emphasis on how brand building would help the farmers to retain customers and improve their sales. Rajesh Singh, director (Northern Region), FSSAI, made the participants aware about the guidelines of the FSSAI for jaggery in particular.
