Ludhiana, October 31
In a first-of-its-kind initiative, the Ludhiana Traffic Police and the CT University honoured commuters following traffic rules during an activity organised at the Bharat Nagar and Bhai Bala Chowk on Wednesday.
The commuters who were found observing traffic rules were awarded with an appreciation certificate along with the flowers by the traffic cops and faculty and students of the varsity.
The drivers were checked on following parameters, including obeying traffic rules, wearing helmets, seat belt and carrying vehicle’s essential documents.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Traffic Sukhpal Singh Brar said, “When people break traffic rules, they are penalised instantly. But what about those who observe the rules and drive safely? We have given certificates of appreciation to citizens, so that they get motivated. We will come up with more such activities.”
Manbir Singh, Managing Director, CT University said, “Certificates were awarded by the traffic cops and teams of students were constituted by us. The activity has been successful and we will continue with this project to inculcate a sense of safe driving among residents. Even, if 10 per cent people follow traffic rules after this initiative, we will definitely feel that our purpose has been solved.”
