A number of shopkeepers of Khamano protested against the construction of the divider under the over bridge in the town that will close the main chowk and will become a hurdle in the traffic.

The protesters led by Deepak Verma, Lali Khamano, Dr Jagdeep Rana and others raised slogans against the construction company and later gave a memorandum to SDM Khamano Jashandeep Kaur in this regard.

The protesters also blocked traffic for a few minutes and demanded immediate action to stop the work of the divider. After the report of protest, SHO Khamano Pawan Kumar reached the spot and persuaded them to take up the matter with SDM. The protesters apprised the SDM that if the main chowk is closed then it will be a nuisance to traffic in the town and the commuters and farmers will face difficulty in crossing the town.

Later SDM khamano took up the matter with authorities concerned and ordered the department to stop immediate construction of divider. She assured the protesters that they would hold a meeting with the officials of NHAI to sort out the issue as per norms.
