SC set to get 4 more judges, two from region

NEW DELHI:The Supreme Court is all set to get four new judges as its collegium headed by CJI Ranjan Gogoi is reliably learnt to have cleared the elevation of the CJs of high courts of Punjab and Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and Kerala.

New Delhi, August 29

The Supreme Court is all set to get four new judges as its collegium headed by CJI Ranjan Gogoi is reliably learnt to have cleared the elevation of the CJs of high courts of Punjab and Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and Kerala.

The collegium approved the four names at a meeting on Wednesday, sources privy to the development said.

Those proposed to be elevated to the SC are Punjab and Haryana HC Chief Justice Krishna Murari, Himachal Pradesh HC Chief Justice V Ramasubramanian, Rajasthan HC Chief Justice S Ravindra Bhat and Kerala HC Chief Justice Hrishikesh Roy, they said, adding a formal announcement was expected soon. 

Justice Murari and Justice Ramasubramanian had taken over as CJ of Punjab and Haryana HC and Himachal Pradesh HC in June while Justice Bhat has been functioning as Rajasthan CJ since May. Justice Roy has been the CJ of Kerala HC for a year. — TNS
