Two NDFB(S) militants killed in encounter

GUWAHATI: Two NDFB(S) cadre, wanted in connection with the massacre of Adivasis, were today killed in an encounter with a joint team of the Assam Police and the Army.



Guwahati, August 29

Two NDFB(S) cadre, wanted in connection with the massacre of Adivasis, were today killed in an encounter with a joint team of the Assam Police and the Army.

Based on specific intelligence, personnel of the Assam Police and the Army launched an operation in Oxiguri village in Chirang district early today, Inspector General of Police, BTAD, L R Bishnoi said.

"Two hardcore NDFB(S) militants were killed in the encounter," he said.

The militants were identified as Gwndai and Junthi, both 'platoon commanders' of the NDFB(S).

"They were responsible for the massacre of Adivasis on December 23, 2014.

"They had also brutally killed a Class 10 student Priya Basumatary, whom they suspected of being a police informer," Bishnoi said.

The senior police official said one M-16 rifle along with magazines, an AK-47 rifle with magazines and one pistol were recovered from them along with a huge quantity of ammunition and other personal items. —PTI
