Faridkot, August 18

In a trend reversal, the government medical college here has emerged more-sought-after for MBBS among top rankers compared to the government medical college at Amritsar.

In the second allotment list for over 1,100 MBBS seats in eight medical colleges that Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) released today, many high-ranking students preferred Guru Gobind Singh Medical College, Faridkot, to Government Medical College, Amritsar. So far, government medical college, Amritsar, is the second preference of medical students after government college Patiala.

Harnoor Singh, Eesh Goyal, Panish Gupta, Arshdeep Garg, Aashna, Vivek Jain, Chahat — all candidates with good ranking in NEET — were eligible to get admission in Amritsar medical college, but they opted for Faridkot medical college.

Dr Raj Bahadur, Vice-Chancellor, BFUHS, said the improved infrastructure in Faridkot college was the reason that many students had preferred this medical college over Amritsar college.
