Cancel school’s affiliation for beating up child: DC

Deputy Commissioner Chander Gaind today instructed the District Education Officer (DEO) to revoke the affiliation of Himmat Public School following an incident of allegedly beating up of a girl students of Class VI by the school coordinator.

The DC said he came to know about the incident through social media, following which he called the victim girl and her parents. “Thereafter, I also called school officials to listen to their version,” said the DC. Gaind said after listening to both parties, it was observed that the girl was thrashed and made to stand for three hours in the school. The DC said he instructed the DEO to take up the matter with the higher authorities for taking action against the school. Nek Singh, DEO, said the school was affiliated to the Punjab School Education Board. The student was asked to resume her studies in a government school. — OC
