Liquor baron Shiv Lal Doda’s aide and Independent councillor Jaswinder Singh Jassi, his brother Gurwinder Singh Ditty and Gurpreet Singh, residents of Kothi Faiz Colony here, have been booked under Sections 382, 323 and 506 of the IPC.

The city police registered a case as Satyavan Shakya of Shiv Shakya Nagar lodged a complaint alleging that the trio assaulted him outside the police station and snatched his wallet, wrist watch and gold chain on Sunday. “Both factions had gone to the police station in support of some boys who had clashed sometime back. As the warring groups could not reach a compromise, Jassi and his accomplices got irritated and attacked me,” said Shakya, who had contested the Municipal Council election against Jassi.

Doda had fielded some candidates in the last municipal elections who were allotted a lantern symbol. Four of them won as Independents and supported the BJP-SAD alliance in electing the MC president. Jassi was one of them.

ASI Krishan Lal has been told to investigate the case.
