THE Tribune’s Editor Kalinath Ray was arrested on April 17, 1919, for his writings against British atrocities and the Rowlatt Act. Consequently, the newspaper was not printed from April 18 to April 23. The following notice appeared on April 24, explaining the events to its valuable readers:

ON Thursday evening when only about half the number of copies of the issue of The Tribune bearing dated April 18 had been printed off and despatched, the police took custody of the premises, and released them after a search of the offices and the Press on Sunday afternoon. We regret we have been unable under the circumstances to bring out the paper until to-day.
