‘No cremation till arrest of culprits’

Three days after the murder of deputy head of Harka Das dera in Kot Sukhia village here, followers of the dera have announced that they will not cremate the body of Baba Dayal Das till the culprits are nabbed.

On the complaint of a dera disciple, Sant Gagan Das, the police have registered a murder case against Sant Jarnail Das, supervisory head of the dera’s branch at Kapurewala village of Moga, and two unidentified persons.

Harka Das dera at Kot Sukhia village has many branches across the state and the dera has agriculture land at different places in the state. 

Baba Dayal Das, who was killed on Thursday, was looking after the routine matters of the dera for the past many months due to poor health of the dera head. As he was being seen as imminent successor of Baba Hari Das, so he was also facing an opposition from a group in the dera.

“We are focusing on some prime suspects and also trying to identify the two persons who had killed Baba Dayal Das on Thursday,” said a police officer in Faridkot.
