Mohali, July 9

The district administration has been acting tough against people who are jumping quarantine and putting lives of others at risk during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Stating this here today, Mohali Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan said from June 22 to July 7, the administration, with the assistance of the police, had registered four FIRs under Sections 188, 269, 270 and 271 of the IPC against those jumping quarantine, while warning had been issued to 26 persons.

Explaining the mechanism, Dayalan said: “People undergoing quarantine have to download COVA app on their cell phones and they are tracked by its admin portal. A warning is issued to a person is he/she jumps the quarantine for the first time. An FIR is registered against the violator, if he/she repeats the offence for the second time”.

Dayalan exhorted the people, especially those undergoing the quarantine, to follow all safety protocols.
