Chandigarh: Two cases of online fraud have been reported in the city. A woman resident of Maloya was duped of Rs 1.73 lakh by a fraudster while she was trying to register a complaint regarding an online payment application. A case was registered at the Maloya police station. In the other case, a swindler duped a Sector 43 resident of Rs16,200 on the pretext of providing her with a job. A case has been registered at the Sector 36 police station. TNS

Youth arrested on theft charge

Chandigarh: A 19-year-old youth has been arrested by the police for theft at a house. The suspect has been identified as Bharat, a resident of Mauli Jagran. The police said the suspect had stolen jewellery and Rs1.50 lakh from a house in Dariya village on December 12 last year. A case has been registered at the Industrial Area police station. TNS

Furniture stolen from workshop

Chandigarh: Unknown persons have been booked for stealing chairs and stools from a workshop at the PGI. The complainant told the police that 18 broken cushioned chairs and four broken stools were stolen from the workshop. A case has been registered at the Sector 11 police station. TNS

Ex-city Congress head dies

Chandigarh: Former Chandigarh Congress president BB Bahl passed away in the USA on Sunday. He had been living in the there for the past few years. Bahl remained the president for over 14 years. Congress president Pradeep Chhabra expressed condolences and paid tributes to him. TNS
