The Health Secretary has clarified that none of the outsourced employees is being “disengaged from work” on the pretext of poor efficiency after many such employees expressed resentment against a proficiency test to be conducted in the coming days.
UT Health Secretary Yashpal Garg said some vested interests were trying to mislead the outsourced staff regarding the proficiency test. He clarified that the outsourced staff who were punctual, worked with sincerity, discipline and served with utmost devotion need not worry.
“None of such outsourced employees is being disengaged even in case of minor deficiency in performance during the proficiency test. In addition to proficiency, other factors such as duration of engagement, performance and punctuality are of greater importance,” he said.
However, Garg said the UT Administration was responsible for providing good medical care and attention to patients. Accordingly, indiscipline, non-punctuality and non-performance, which might lead to deficiency in service to patients, could not be compromised with.
After an inspection on the intervening night of September 12 and 13, the Health Secretary was of the view that there was a need for a check on the quality of staff provided by the outsourcing agency.
Accordingly, he asked the authorities for a computerised proficiency test to be conducted through SPIC for all outsourced DEOs in the next 10 days.
