Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) general secretary S Manjinder Singh Sirsa today said Himachal Pradesh and Odisha are the latest to implement the Anand Marriage Act and hoped soon the law may be adopted in all the states.

Earlier, this act was implemented in Punjab, Haryana, Jharkhand and Meghalaya while Delhi, Bihar, UP, Uttarakhand and Assam were also completing the process to implement the act.

In a statement issued, Sirsa said the Himachal Pradesh and Odisha governments have implemented the Anand Marriage Act in their states, respectively.

Noting that he has been pursuing the matter of implementation of this act in all states of the country, Sirsa said as he was in touch with these governments they have informed now that they have implemented the act in their states.

The Rajouri Garden MLA said with the implementation of the act in these states Sikhs residing there can get their marriages registered under the act. He said this will be especially helpful to those Sikhs who travel abroad as earlier they had to face a lot problem because of non-registration of their marriages.

Sirsa said it was wish of the Shiromani Akali Dal president, Sukhbir Singh Badal, to implement this act in all the states and this wish later became a full-fledged campaign.
