Three meritorious students of Uplana village, who secured first, second and third positions in Class X examinations in the village, were honoured at the Mini Secretariat by Deputy Commissioner Anish Yadav on Wednesday.

Uplana village has been selected for the “best village award” under the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ initiative of the Union Government for having the best sex ratio across the district. The sex ratio of the village is 1,353

The DC honoured Komal (97.2 per cent marks) with a cheque of Rs 75,000 for securing the first position, Neha (93.6 per cent) with Rs 45,000 for second position and Sonia (92.8 per cent) with Rs 30,000 for getting the third position. Dr Yogesh Sharma, Civil Surgeon, said that under this scheme, the village has been selected for having best sex ratio in the district. The girls of the same village who secure first, second and third position in the matric examinations are honoured by the Deputy Commissioner.

The DC appealed to the people of the district to come forward to improve the sex ratio of the district. Civil Surgeon Dr Yogesh said that in 2019, the sex ratio of the district was 885. It was improved to 907 by 2020 and in 2021, it reached 912.
