Chandigarh, February 7

The Congress Legislative Party (CLP) today decided to move a no-confidence motion against the Khattar government over poor law and order, corruption, and unemployment in the state. The budget session is starting on February 20.

The CLP met under former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

The no-confidence motion was being moved as the present government had been a failure in every field, and every section was unhappy with the government, claimed Hooda. The public had no expectations from the upcoming budget because the government had not done any work except to increase debt, he said. “The Congress will also seek answers on issues like increasing unemployment, irregularities in the Skill Employment Corporation, sending youth to Israel, priority to outsiders in state recruitment, scams, etc,” he said.

The party also submitted a Calling Attention Motion on the Cooperation Department’s “Rs 100-crore scam”. “The government claims its functioning is transparent. Had there been transparency, such a big scam would not have taken place,” said Congress chief whip BB Batra.

Another Calling Attention Motion submitted by the party is on unemployment. “It is a cruel joke that on the one hand, the government has failed to employ youth, but on the other, it is encouraging them to go to war-torn Israel,” said Congress MLA Varun Chaudhary.

“It has come to notice that in the name of Ayushman Bharat cards, bills worth lakhs have been claimed for surgeries after the death of patients. We are raising the issue under Calling Attention Motion,” said Batra.

The Congress also wants to move a resolution on the condition of farmers. The resolution demands that if a crop is procured below MSP, it should be made a punishable offence, and the Centre should waive the debt of farmers.
