Demand for reviving minority panel raised

KURUKSHETRA: Against the backof “harassment” of Kashmiris in the aftermath of the Pulwama attack, the demand for revival of the Haryana State Commission for Minorities (HSCM) is being raised.

Kurukshetra, February 22

Against the backdrop of “harassment” of Kashmiris in the aftermath of the Pulwama attack, the demand for revival of the Haryana State Commission for Minorities (HSCM) is being raised. Soon after assuming charge, the Manohar Lal Khattar-led BJP government had dissolved the commission.

HSCM former chief Tarlochan Singh said an independent state-level body was needed to examine, investigate and monitor issues related to minorities. Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee working chief Didar Singh Nalvi said the harassment of Kashmiris showed a panel was needed to safeguard the minorities. — Vishal Joshi
