Haryana gets notice on Nodeep Kaur’s bail application

Nodeep Kaur

Chandigarh, February 22

The High Court today put Haryana on notice over labour activist Nodeep Kaur’s regular bail plea. Justice Avneesh Jhingan fixed the case for further hearing on February 24 — the date already given by the High Court for hearing related petitions, including suo motu case on her detention.

Nodeep had moved the HC through senior advocate RS Cheema, Arshdeep Singh Cheema and Harinder Deep Singh Bains, alleging false implication in an FIR registered for attempt to murder, assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of duty and other offences.

Taking suo motu cognisance of e-mails alleging her illegal confinement, the HC had ordered treating the matter as criminal writ petition. The activist was allegedly arrested from the Singhu border. — TNS
