Sonepat, June 20
Youth Congress president Divyanshu Budhiraja and former president Sachin Kundu, along with other Youth Congress workers, were detained by the Delhi police at Singhu border on Monday while they staged a dharna there.
A massive traffic jam of around 3 km was witnessed on NH-44 towards Haryana side today. Following the call of the Congress to protest against Agnipath scheme and questioning of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), scores of Youth Congress leaders led by Budhiraja and Kundu were on the way to Delhi.
The Delhi police had laid a ‘naka’ at Singhu border and were checking vehicles before letting those enter Delhi. As the Youth Congress leaders reached there, the Delhi Police refused entry in Delhi.
Enraged, Budhiraja and Kundu, along with the youths, staged a dharna on the road. The Delhi Police detained 51 youths.
Besides, the Kundli police also laid a special naka at Kundli and began checking vehicles which are going to Delhi. Due to police checking, a massive traffic jam occurred in the Kundli area due to which commuters faced a lot of problems.
Besides, a joint ‘naka’ has also been laid by Delhi and Haryana Police at Ferozpur-Auchandi border.
