3 held with leopard hides in Nahan

Four leopard hides were seized from Sirmaur district.

Solan, February 5

A Special Investigation Team of the Sirmaur police arrested three members of a gang involved in leopard hide smuggling and confiscated four hides from their possession on the Khala Kyar-Koti Dhiman road in Renukaji area this evening.

SP, Sirmaur, Ajay Krishan Sharma, said the team had an information about the illegal trade and three accused Balbir Singh (49), Narayan Singh (38) and Jiwan Singh(42) were arrested with the leopard hides.

Three hides belonged to adult leopards while one belonged to a cub. The accused hailed from local villages of Jarag and Bhatgarh in Sangrah subdivision of the district. A case under Section 51, 53 of the Wildlife Protection Act,1972, has been registered.
