Solan, January 23
The Baddi Barotiwala Nalagarh Industries Association (BBNIA) has demanded deployment of a special police force to enable hindrance-free movement of trucks hired from other states. The association has taken exception to threats and blockade of trucks hired from other states.
The Baddi police had registered a case of criminal intimidation and wrongful restraint against truck union members for forcibly stopping a truck hired from other state by Him Techno Forge industry and attempting to snatch its papers at Baddi in December last year. A dispute has once again arisen between truckers and the Baddi Barotiwala Nalagarh (BBN) Industries Association after the former increased the freight by 12 per cent for some routes without taking the association into confidence.
The Nalagarh Truck Oparators Union has, however, asserted that the hike in insurance, permit fee, fuel and other recurring cost forced them to enhance the freight. A delegation of the association met the Solan DC recently and apprised him about the problem involving trucks hired from other states.
