Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College, Tanda, has made it to the list of top 20 medical colleges in India. It is ranked 19th in the All-India Ranking for 400 medical colleges by a magazine for 2016. The hospital has an intake of 100 MBBS and 60 postgraduate seats per year. In addition, it has 30 nursing and 20 BSc technician courses.

Principal Dr Anil Chauhan said the hospital had shown a rapid progress on all fronts in the past few years. He said the recent additions to Tanda medical college included the Multidisciplinary Research Unit, Advanced Virology Laboratory, Super-Speciality Block, Model Rural Health Research Unit, Department of Emergency Medicine, Department of Public Health, Burns Unit, Eye Bank, National Emergency Skills Centre and telemedicine facility. It was the fastest growing colleges, he added.

He said: “In the coming year, Tanda is going to become fully computerised with its own data centre and end-mile Internet connectivity through its national knowledge network.”

“The government has approved an independent mother-child care centre and a trauma centre for Tanda,” Chauhan said. It was committed to providing world-class facilities to students, he added.
