Himachal Kisan Sabha holds protest in Shimla against Lakhimpur violence

Shimla, October 4

A protest was held at the Mall Road here today against the violence at Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh. Various organisations came together under the banner of the Himachal Kisan Sabha to protest the “killing” of farmers, and demanded the registration of an FIR under Section 302 against the son of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra and his (minister’s) sacking for allegedly instigating violence against the farmers.

“We are also demanding the constitution of a special investigating team under the supervision of the Supreme Court to inquire into the murder of farmers,” said Himachal Kisan Sabha president Kuldeep Tanwar.

The protesters also took exception to a video of Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar wherein he is seen asking BJP workers to stand up against the farmers. “The president should take cognisance of Khattar’s statement that instigates violence against the farmers,” said the Kisan Sabha.
