Two killed in mishaps at Paonta Sahib


Solan, November 20

Two persons were killed in separate road accidents in Paonta Sahib in two days.

In the first incident, a local resident, Khajan Singh, was crushed under the rear tyre of a canter while he was walking on the road towards the local Sabzi Mandi 5.40 am today.

Bir Bahadur, DSP, Paonta Sahib, said as per the footage of the CCTV camera installed at the site, Khajan Singh was walking towards the local sabzi mandi, when he was hit by a vehicle. He lost his balance and before he could save himself, a speeding canter crushed him under its rear tyre. Though he was rushed to the local hospital, he was declared dead by the doctors. The speeding canter fled from the spot. It also hit the wife of a Congress leader, Aninder Singh, near Vishvakarna Chowk. The woman sustained injuries in the incident.

In another incident, a motor cycle rider was killed when he was hit by a speeding car, which was coming from the Bata bridge in the town at 10.30 pm yesterday. He was taken to the local hospital, where he was declared dead by the doctors, said the DSP. — TNS
