New Delhi, March 2
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar said on Saturday that all transactions related to the coming Lok Sabha elections would be done through cheques and no muscle or money power would be allowed. Speaking to mediapersons in Lucknow after reviewing poll preparedness in Uttar Pradesh, he said candidates would be encouraged to indulge in digital transactions and they would also be provided cheque books with 200 leaves. Several parties expressed apprehensions over EVMs and sought that these be moved in government vehicles, he said, adding that these vehicles would be equipped with GPS tracking.
Rajiv Kumar asked all district magistrates and superintendents of police to take strong action against officials who indulge in favouritism. He said action should be taken against people who “indulge in fraudulent activities pertaining to the election process”.
