DIG flags off tour for 40 students

An on-the-spot painting competition was organised by Salal Power Station for the students of Government Middle School, Bidda, Reasi district.



Srinagar: Deputy Inspector General of Central Kashmir Ghulam Hassan Bhat on Monday flagged off a “Mini Bharat Darshan Tour” which has been organised by the J&K Police under its civic action programme. Forty students from Budgam, Ganderbal, Leh and Kargil districts, four caretakers and a DSP are part of the tour, a police spokesman said. TNS

DSP Ajay Punjabi decorated

Srinagar: Director, Police Telecom, Hilal Ahmad Shah on Monday decorated Deputy Superintendent of Police Ajay Punjabi with the new rank at a piping ceremony held at the Police Telecom Headquarters.  Senior officers, besides the staff members of the headquarters, were present on the occasion. TNS

It was organised as part of the ongoing “Swachhta Hi Sewa” campaign. Speaking on the occasion, school headmaster appreciated the initiatives taken by the Salal Power Station to make the students aware of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.TNS

Fellowship for JU prof

Piyush Malaviya, associate professor in the Department of Environmental Science, University of Jammu (JU), has been awarded the Office for Prevention of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) Fellowship by the OPCW based in The Hague, The Netherlands. It covers all expenses for attending the International Contaminated Site Remediation Conference to be held from September 10-14, at Melbourne, Australia. The conference was organised by the Cooperative Research Centre for Contamination Assessment and Remediation of the Environment, Australia. TNS

In its continued endeavour to promote literature, music, art, folklore, theatre and cultural heritage, the Indian Cultural Forum organised ‘Majlis-6’ here on Monday. It was organised under the patronage of eminent Urdu poet of the subcontinent Pritpal Singh ‘Betab’ and presided over by Bharat Bhushan Sharma, president, Rashtra Bhasha Prasar Samiti. Pandit Vidya Rattan ‘Aasi’, an eminent Urdu poet, was the chief guest and Raj Kumar was the guest of honour. TNS
