After Chowni Mohalla, Khanna is emerging as the next containment zone with 15 persons testing positive in the chain (six yesterday) of the infected doctor couple. Since two positive persons in the chain of the doctor couple do not belong to Khanna, it has just escaped the containment tag.
The doctor couple, who worked at Mohan Dai Oswal Hospital, had contracted virus from a patient. The patient, a 86-year-old ex-serviceman, had died.
The couple passed the infection onto their daughter, parents, domestic help and driver.
Later, six more persons got infected in the chain which included a colleague of the doctor couple. A patient, who was operated upon by the doctor, and his sister also tested positive. This brother-sister duo does not belong to Khanna.
Dr Rajinder Gulati, Senior Medical Officer, Khanna, said: “We are testing every possible individual related to the infected persons so that nobody goes unnoticed,” he said.
18 more test positive
Meanwhile, 18 more persons tested positive for Covid today.
They include a woman, a man and two children (both sisters) from Chowni Mohalla, three persons from Islamganj, three contacts of a patient from Habibganj, two-year-old daughter of a positive patient from Gurugram admitted to the DMCH.
A 27-year-old undertrial from Fatehgarh Sahib also tested positive. Besides, three patients tested positive at the DMCH. They include two persons from Defence Colony in Malerkotla, a 64-year-old person from Vijay Nagar, Jalandhar; and a man from Nakodar Road, Jalandhar. Two patients from Jalandhar tested positive at the CMCH.
A total of 22 persons, including the deceased, have tested positive at Chowni Mohalla.
