Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu on Monday inaugurated beautification and development works in the decades’ old Gian Singh Rarewala Market which were taken up by the civic body at the cost of Rs 70 lakh.

On the occasion, the Mayor stated that it was a long-pending demand of businessmen operating in the market to build washrooms, its beautification, improvement of the parking lot and road carpeting.

He said the market was four decades’ old and adjacent to the Regional Passport Office due to which it had become necessary to develop the place to facilitate people.

Punjab Youth Development Board Chairman Sukhwinder Singh Bindra and Punjab Medium Industrial Development Board Chairman Amarjeet Singh Tikka were among those others present on the occasion.
