Members of the Muslim community led by leaders of the Majlis Ahrar Islam-e-Hind burnt an effigy of the Norwegian Government over desecration of Quran.
Shahi Imam of Punjab, Maulana Habib-ur-Rahman, said anti-Islam bodies in Norway were under a wrong impression that by sacrilege of Quran they would eliminate the Muslims.
“Wherever such acts of sacrilege had been committed in the past, Islam became more and more powerful,” he said.
Rahman said Muslims loved Quran more than their lives and the holy scripture promotes welfare and equality among human beings in the world.
He said Umar Ilyas, who had intervened to save Quran from being burnt in Norway was a real hero.
The Shahi Imam said anti-Islam forces were making attempts to provoke the Muslim community through their nefarious acts.
“We have to foil such evil designs through peaceful protests,” he said, while urging the Government of India to discuss the issue with Norwegian Government as this particular act hurt feelings of Muslims.
