Inmates of shelter homes in various parts of Ludhiana district were overwhelmed with the hospitality shown by the administration during their guided tour to the venue of the Rural Olympics at Kila Raipur village on Tuesday.

Besides enjoying food and fair activities of their choice, they learnt about elements of the state’s cultural heritage.

Having received the approval of Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney, the ADC (Rural Development) Anmol Singh Dhaliwal transformed his brainchild into a guided tour for deprived children to various parts of the Rural Olympics.

“Having made adequate arrangements for their comfortable stay on the premises we advised authorities at various orphanages of the district to bring inmates of their shelter homes here so they could have a picnic and a practical learning experience simultaneously,” said Dhaliwal, adding that expenses for the funfair, eatables and transportation were borne by the administration.
