Ludhiana, July 16

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Ashwani Kapur, who had earlier tested Covid positive, joined back duty after winning the battle with the virus. To share his experience and challenges faced by him during treatment, the DCP posted his video message on the official Facebook page of the Ludhiana Police.

“I would like to tell my colleagues, subordinates and people that the Covid-19 infection is rising day by day. Since I am one of the Covid victims, I want to share the first hand experience of being positive for the disease,” the DCP said.

“The primary precaution one needs to take is to wear mask whether you are at your office or moving in public place. Do take all other precautions. Sometimes we avoid wearing mask while sitting alone, but don’t follow this practice as you may contract virus,” the DCP said.

“Everyone has different symptoms but most common are temperature and irritation in throat. In my case, I had body ache, dry cough and headache,” said the DCP while revealing about symptoms.

“On June 22, I gave samples for corona test and on June 25, I was declared corona positive. Considering my age factor, I immediately got myself admitted to hospital to prevent any further risk to life,” the DCP added.

“After testing positive, even if we have any symptoms or not, we should remain in hospital for few days so that doctors can complete our required health check up. Leave hospital only when doctors ask to choose home quarantine facility,” said the DCP.

“After choosing home quarantine facility, stay in a separate room in the house, use disposable utensils, keep separate garbage bag, do breathing exercise, take prescribed supplements, hot milk, lemon juice, ‘kadha’, or other things,” he said.

“After staying home for 17 days, doctors and even WHO claims that Covid patient neither catch infection nor can infect someone. So, after completing this period, I joined back my duty. Our enemy is invisible. Let’s all take precaution and win this battle,” the DCP added.
