Ludhiana: The police have booked nine persons and their unknown accomplices for beating up Rajneesh Sharma of Krishna Nagar after snatching his wrist watch at Baba Blak Nath Mandir Street near Rose Garden on Saturday night. The complainant said a person snatched his watch and ran away towards the parking lot of Rose Garden. He chases the snatcher and caught hold of him. However, the he called his accomplices who beat him up and fled the spot. The suspects have been identified as Ashok, alias Ashoki, Manish, Bobby, Monu, Gautam, Vipan, Nikhil, Rahul and Anuj. OC
One arrested for violations
Ludhiana: The police have arrested Ram Teerath, a resident of Preet Nagar in Shimlapuri for violation of lockdown restrictions. The accused, booked under Sections 188 and 269 of the IPC, had opened his auto centre on Gurmukh Singh Road in violation of lockdown on Sunday. Similarly, Dinesh Kumar, owner of Manik Watch and Telecom Service, was booked under Section 188, IPC, for opening his shop near Dandi Swami Chowk, on Sunday. OC
Woman held for smuggling
Ludhiana: The police have arrested a woman of Shiv Shankar Colony while carrying 12 bottles of liquor on a scooter at Puneet Nagar. She has been booked under Sections 61, 1 and 14 of the Excise Act and her scooter impounded.
Two nabbed for illegal mining
Ludhiana: The Ladhowal police have arrested Salinder Kumar and Ghola, both residents of Talwandi Kalan village with a tractor-trailer laden with sand near petrol pump. After being stopped at a check post, the suspects failed to produce any document pertaining to permission for sand mining. A case under Section 379 IPC and 21 of the Mining and Mineral Act has been registered against both persons. OC
