New Delhi, July 19

A day after busting a scam to rig the NEET (UG)-2022 examination and arresting eight persons from Delhi and Haryana, sources in the CBI said the syndicate was offering confirmed seats in medical courses spanning four states.

The sources said during the interrogation of those arrested, it had come to light that they were selling each confirmed medical seat in different colleges at a price ranging from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 25 lakh. “Of the total amount, Rs 5 lakh to Rs 7 lakh was shared with the person who impersonated the student and solved the NEET papers and the rest of the amount was shared among the mastermind, middlemen and a few others,” said a source.

The sources said the syndicate was operating its racket in Bihar, UP, Maharashtra and Haryana, besides Delhi.
