Two youths belonging to this border district died due of alleged drug overdose.

As per information, 32-year-old Kabal Singh of Rukna Begu village died while he was doing labour work in a field. He suddenly fainted and died on the spot. It was found that Kabal was taking drugs for the last five years.

In the another incident that took place at Jhugge Hajara Singh Wala village, 25-year-old Malkit Singh took overdose of drugs three days ago, following which he was admitted to the Government Medical College in Faridkot. However, his condition deteriorated on Monday and he eventually died.

As per the sources, Malkit was earlier undergoing treatment at a drug rehabilitation centre.

Meanwhile, as per an RTI information provided by the state police, it was confirmed that 95 young people had lost their lives in drug-related cases last year, averaging eight per month.
