Chandigarh, October 31

Transport Minister Amrinder Singh Raja Warring on Sunday conducted a surprise check at the Bathinda bus stand to review the basic arrangements, including cleanliness at toilets and shops, besides availability of potable RO drinking water. He directed PRTC general manager Raman Sharma to pay more attention to cleanliness and ensure that shops/stalls inside the bus stand were located at designated areas.

Three buses were impounded and challaned for operating illegally. Two buses belonged to Orbit Aviation while one was owned by the Malwa Transport Company.

  • Transport Minister Amrinder Singh Raja Warring has announced ‘No Challan Day’ on November 14
  • He has directed officials to organise roadside campaigns and spread traffic awareness
  • He said road safety should be made part of the curriculum in schools and colleges

The Transport Minister said that about 300 buses operating illegally in the state had been impounded so far, of which 35 belonged to Bathinda district alone.

He asked that when the bus operators were collecting tax from passengers in the form of tickets, why were they not paying it to the government? He appealed to operators not to ply buses without paying adequate tax.
